Well this morning nothing was said about not carrying on and so we are carrying on !!

We saw our first Polar bear this morning in Vankarem. We went off on the skiddoo to have a closer look but when we got there it had gone across the ice flow. We had to wait until 12 noon for fuel and then we set off across the ice flow to the shore. On the other side of the inlet we saw three more Polar bears and two wolferens and came across a ship wreck of a large ferry. We have been towed down a deep valley where the snow was 6/8feet thick. Since then we were back under our own steam for 18km before we came to this large valley filled with soft snow so we are being towed through that.

From now on it looks like the going will be tough with very deep snow and ice flows. We have travelled about 40km so far and passed the village of Nutepel'men which is on the coast. We are in land driving across the tundra.
